Description of Duties:

Reporting to the Director, Product Integrity, The Associate Director, Product Integrity – Global Online Brand Protection will support Merck's global Product Integrity and Brand Security strategic deliverables and operational assignments that protect the safety of Merck patients and assets through development and management of event –based targeting, and leadership of the online brand protection enforcement program.

This will include:
  • Design and lead innovative online enforcement program based on high-value target evaluation and infringing activity.
  • Own targeting package product to support Regional Product Integrity teams.
  • Analyze counterfeiting and supply-chain security exposures and implement cost effective passive, reactive, and proactive programs to address these exposures in the online space.
  • Development and execution of risk assessment model for e-commerce offers of illicit versions of Company products.
  • Lead and execute large scale, investigative online market surveys and threat assessments to identify threats to Merck patients associated with Product Integrity events.
  • Management and coordination of online brand protection cases to assure completion and compliance with internal and external reporting requirements
  • Handle high volume and complex caseload with little oversight
  • Coordinate with Law Enforcement Agencies on the referral of online brand protection cases, to include case reports for submission to agencies
  • Develop and champion voluntary best practices in online enforcement space.
  • Champion patient safety and online enforcement best practices ideas with senior leadership at e-commerce, social media and payment processor firms, in an ongoing fashion.
  • Lead communication stream for brand protection enforcement with online trading and social media platforms.
  • Oversight of vendor relationships and budget allocation specific to online brand protection and online investigations.
  • Own and maintain analytical reports produced via i2 or other visualization software.
  • Own, maintain and innovate various online brand protection-based applications for research and reporting.
  • Lead development and implementation of analytics and compilation of statistical and “KPI” reports for briefings and presentations.
  • Demonstrated brand protection thought leadership via active participation and leadership positions in related trade associations.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships that support internal and external engagement and advocacy for online brand protection matters at Merck
  • Accountable to assigned client groups and GSAG management for efficient and highly effective delivery of online brand protection investigative services

Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement:
  • B.S. or B.A. degree is required
Required Experience and Skills:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in brand protection with proven expertise in online space
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with senior leadership and government officials
  • Experience in a data management/analytics, including use of incident management databases and visualization tools Strong data analytic and statistical background
  • Ability to identify issues and customize, implement/execute solutions
  • Demonstrated problem solver
  • Ability to champion new ideas or positions to meet key goals and initiatives
  • Ability to work in highly collaborative and matrixed environment
  • Proven ability to work in varying situations, from committee work in which a “team player” approach is essential to situations in which considerable independence and self-motivation is required
  • Up to 15% travel
  • Demonstrated strong cross-functional team leadership abilities and experience
  • Must possess and demonstrate strong leadership, communication and analytical skills
  • Must be innovative and independent, able to manage an aggressive workload in a high performing environment
  • Committed to successfully operating in a matrixed environment with exceptional level of collaboration, clarity and honesty in dealing with peers, team members and all others in a flat and nimble organization.
  • Ability to champion new ideas or positions to meet key goals and initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure and respond rapidly to breaking situations. Sound, proven judgment is a must
  • Demonstrated ability to work with wide range of individuals from diverse backgrounds, countries of origin, and at varying levels within the corporate structure.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Understanding of Intelligence and Risk Management methodologies
  • Previous investigations background
