WD's trademarks, logos and slogans are valuable assets to WD and its brand and act to distinguish WD's products from its competitors' products. Accordingly, WD takes many steps to protect against unauthorized or improper use of its trademarks, logos and brand. The Brand Protection and Enforcement team monitors physical and online outlets to ensure worldwide sales consist of only official Company products authorized for sale in a region. The team works closely with local law enforcement and customs officials to get counterfeit or unauthorized products out of retail and supply channels.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitating case management and preparation including set-up and maintaining case files in electronic case management system
  • Organizing materials and evidence including reports, photos, and products
  • Analyzing and summarizing investigative results and product analysis
  • Preparing materials for and promptly responding to requests from outside counsel and law enforcement
  • Assisting with third party management including invoice review, scheduling and coordinating shipping of products for analysis, storage and use as evidence in investigations
  • Conducting online and public records investigations of case targets and effectively synthesize and communicate findings
  • Conducting factual investigation and research including product testing and analysis
  • Working with team to identify new targets and scams through various physical and online outlets in various jurisdictions throughout the world
  • Maintaining and ensuring ethical standards and professional conduct of internal and external investigations
  • Understanding and researching legal framework in various global jurisdictions to identify and execute investigative priorities

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Strong attention to accuracy, quality, details, and strong analytical skills
  • Interest and curiosity in following case leads and exploring intricacies of various case targets and schemes
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong computer and internet skills and ability to function in a digital technology environment
  • Knowledge of information management and record-keeping principles and practices
  • Ability and willingness to take initiative and work independently
  • Ability to multi-task on multiple projects and communicate effectively with personnel at all levels
  • Familiarity with state and federal criminal and civil legal systems; knowledge of foreign jurisdictions a plus
  • Familiarity with federal and state law enforcement agency structure and operation; knowledge of foreign jurisdictions a plus

PREFERRED:

  • Four-year degree or equivalent work experience in criminal justice, legal studies, law enforcement, or information technology discipline
  • Work experience as a paralegal or case assistant in a law firm setting
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge and interest in trademark and global brand matters
  • Experience/proficiency with case management software
