Job Summary

The Trademark Paralegal will be responsible for assisting with the management of TOMS’ global trademark portfolio, including worldwide trademark filings, prosecution, renewals and conflicts (oppositions, cancellations, and infringements).

Essential Responsibilities

  • Corresponding with U.S. and international outside counsel, and managing a global trademark portfolio strategy
  • Assisting with preparing documents for all aspects of proceedings, including evidence of use, supporting affidavits
  • Brand protection support. Provide support for enforcement program, including online and offline enforcement
  • Researching third party marks and working with design team to provide clearance. Reviewing watch notices and responding accordingly to counsel
  • Reviewing and filing copyright applications

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Familiarity with legal process and civil and criminal enforcement of intellectual property laws and specifically trademarks (3-5 yrs)
  • Knowledge of docketing software and data entry (0-3 yrs)

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma/GED or higher from an accredited institution
  • Minimum two (2) years combined administrative and/or trademark support experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information
  • Must be detail oriented and organized. An independent thinker who is action oriented
  • Experience working with international teams and partners
  • Demonstrated record of showing initiative and ownership for team results
