March 30, 2022

IACC President and Commanding General of Italy’s Guardia di Finanza Discuss Collaboration on European Training App

Commanding General Giuseppe Zafarana of the Guardia di Finanza (GdF) and IACC President Bob Barchiesi held an official meeting at GdF Headquarters in Rome on March 17th, to fortify their partnership and discuss tactics to advance the fight against counterfeiting.

This was followed by a presentation to their executive leadership at the GdF Operations Center on a European version of the IACC’s Law Enforcement Training App. Michael Walsh, V.P. of Administration & Training’s presentation, included a hands-on demonstration with commanders downloading the prototype to their own smartphones.

Lieutenant General Giuseppe Vicanolo, Second in Command and Major General Cosimo Di Gesu, Commander of Intelligence and International Relations led the GdF hierarchy in a well received discussion on this latest collaborative effort between law enforcement and private industry.

The IACC and the Guardia di Finanza established partnership in 2015 when they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Italy.  The IACC has worked closely with the GdF, a militarized police force of over 68,000 members, instructing 600 new officers at the Recruit Training Academy in Bari. Most recently, the IACC hosted a special luncheon on October 5th in Washington, DC to honor Commanding General Zafarana during his official visit to the U.S. Coming up, we are proud to announce senior GdF leaders will present a keynote address at the IACC’s Annual (in-person) Conference to be held in Washington, DC, April 27th – 29th at the historic Mayflower Hotel.
