USICA / COMPETES in Limbo
While many in Congress remained hopeful that the House and Senate could reach an agreement in a Conference Committee to advance a compromise between the Senate-passed U.S. Innovation and Competition Act and the House-passed America COMPETES Act, those efforts have reportedly bogged down. The legislation, which was originally aimed at boosting American competitiveness against China and boosting domestic manufacturing has hit numerous speedbumps over the past few months.
IACC Participates in Training with Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department

The IACC recently participated in a training event with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and Homeland Security Investigations in La Mirada, California.
The event, organized by Investigative Consultants featured a keynote address by Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva and Homeland Security Investigation’s Eddy Wang, Acting Special Agent in Charge, Los Angeles Office. The IACC presented our Law Enforcement Training App, successfully adding many new law enforcement subscribers. The day also included a trade-fair exercise, allowing brand representatives to provide hands on authentication experience for law enforcement.

The IACC Annual Conference this year was a huge success with record attendance of 550 attendees from across 45 countries! Over three days, attendees learned from and interacted with over 80 IP expert speakers from around the world through five panel sessions and 17 workshops. Participants not only gained knowledge during the sessions, but also reconnected with friends and colleagues, and met new friends.
IACC Taps Former DOJ CCIPS Assistant Deputy Chief Marc Miller to Lead its Corporate Strategy

May 11, 2022, Washington, D.C. - The International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition (IACC) is pleased to announce that Marc Miller has joined the association as Senior Vice President Corporate Strategy and Senior Legal Counsel. Marc will lead the IACC’s strategic partnerships to build on the IACC’s success in bringing like-minded partners from all sectors to find innovative solutions to combat counterfeiting. He will also continue to direct enhancements to the IACC’s Online Enforcement Programs to improve their effectiveness and participant experience.
IACC Hosts In-Person Law Enforcement Training at the Port of Newark

The IACC recently conducted an in-person training event with Homeland Security Investigations and Customs Border Protection at the Port of Newark. Training was conducted at their facility in Elizabeth, New Jersey with over 60 law enforcement officials that also included the New Jersey State Police, local police departments and prosecutors.
