September 19-20, 2023

IACC Law Enforcement Training Summary

Port of Detroit

September 19-20, 2023

The IACC recently conducted training under our Law Enforcement IP Training Program with Customs & Border Protection at the Port of Detroit. This program provides authorities throughout the country with the information and tools to act strategically in the detection and seizure of counterfeit goods.

Training was held at CBP’s port facility and included officers assigned to air cargo, land cargo and the Port Huron Blue Water Bridge complex. In all, 152 law enforcement officials participated in our trade fair formatted event including representatives from the Canada Border Services Agency, Homeland Security Investigations, Agricultural Specialists, Food & Drug Administration, Consumer Product Safety Commission, and Import Specialists representing 9 of the 10 National Centers of Excellence and Expertise. Representatives of 40 brands shared their expertise with hands-on product identification and individualized instruction designed to detect and deter the importation of counterfeit products.

We would like to extend our appreciation to the officials at the Port of Detroit for their assistance in organizing this event and including other federal and international agencies to strengthen enforcement activities and interdict violators. The IACC is a strong supporter of law enforcement.
